What is a loss assessor?

Loss assessors are your advocate in the often frustrating world of insurance claims. Unlike loss adjusters who work for insurance companies, loss assessors work for you, the policyholder.

Our job is to ensure you get the fair settlement you deserve by managing every detail of your claim, from assessing property damage to negotiating with your insurer.

How can loss assessors help me?

Glowsure can manage the claims settlement process on your behalf, to your great benefit. Whether it’s a home insurance claim or you are a landlord looking for help with the claim process, step aside and let our insurance heroes handle everything.

Settle claims faster

When it comes to a property insurance claim, you don’t want it to drag on, but they are notorious for being time-consuming. At Glowsure, we speed up the process by managing all communications and negotiations with your insurance company, ensuring a faster settlement. Property insurance is our area of expertise, and we know and understand insurers’ policy wordings.

Keeping you in the loop

Tired of being left in the dark about insurance claims? We get it. We keep you informed every step of the way with clear and regular updates so you never have to wonder what’s happening with your claim.

We’ll stand in your corner if your claim is rejected

Having your claim rejected (or ‘repudiated’) is tough and demoralising and potentially could have a huge impact on your life. Insurance companies reject claims for many reasons, often citing policy non-compliance or lack of evidence. Our loss assessors are experts in challenging repudiations, we will gather evidence, scrutinise the policy wordings and conditions and do everything within our power to turn it around for you.

Effortless coordination

Big or complex property claims require multiple parties, including contractors, surveyors, adjusters, insurers etc. Luckily, we’re experts at herding cats! We’ll take on the role of chief coordinator and keep everyone moving so your claim gets settled ASAP.

Our insurance claims management process

At Glowsure, your peace of mind is our top priority.

Here’s how we do it:

First call

We’ll allocate you a dedicated claims handler who will give you a call. They’ll ask you to fill in a form or go through with you on the phone or zoom to ascertain some initial details such as your current insurance policy and the claim history so far.

Claims assessment

Once we have the information, we’ll assess the claim against the policy and its conditions and let you know if we can help. We’ll let you know whether the policy provides cover for professional fees which might mean our fee would be included or if this is payable by you.

If we can help and you want to proceed we would send you our terms and conditions for signing and a mandate to act on your behalf.

Claim submission and follow up

We will then prepare the claim including gathering any evidence we might need (this could include visiting the property, obtaining repair estimates etc) and we’ll submit the claim to your insurer.

We will chase the insurer vigorously on your behalf for updates and to ensure progress is made.

Negotiation

We will negotiate for you and argue against any repudiations we think are unfair, for every last penny.

Ongoing communication

We’ll keep you updated and are always available to talk to you and answer any questions you have. You’ll have direct contact details for your own handler and will never have to wait on hold or be placed in an automated queue.

Settlement

We aim to get you a fair and speedy settlement, ensuring that you are fully compensated for your loss.

Why choose Glowsure?

At Glowsure, our friendly experts have extensive knowledge and experience in handling insurance claims. We’re here to ensure that the claims process is quick, hassle-free and that you are fully compensated.

Our dedicated assessors are here to communicate and work closely with all parties involved, making sure everything goes smoothly. We’ll be with you every step of the way, advocating for the best possible settlement.

Frequently asked questions about our loss-assessing services

Are loss assessors regulated?

Glowsure is regulated by the financial conduct authority.

Are loss assessors the same as a surveyors?

While both professionals assess property, a surveyor evaluates the condition of a property for valuation purposes. Loss assessors, on the other hand, specialises in assessing property damage and negotiating insurance claims on behalf of policyholders.

Will I need to tell my insurance company about my loss assessor?

You should tell your insurance company that you have appointed a loss assessor. This is a standard procedure and helps facilitate clear communication between all parties involved in the insurance claim process.

How much does a loss assessor cost?

Glowsure charges 10% of the total claim costs for successful claims. This is payable once the claim has been settled. If the claim is unsuccessful, there is no charge.

Some policies include the cost of professional fees, which may include loss assessors. In this case, your insurer will pay us and nothing has to come out of your pocket. If the policy does not provide this cover, you will pay us when the claim is settled. Whilst it might come out of your pocket, it will be worth it to have passed the stress and hours of work to a professional to handle for you.

We will review your policy at the start and confirm if the cost will be covered by your policy.

How long will it take to settle my claim?

The timeline for resolving your claim will depend on its type, complexity and the insurer involved. Each claim will be different but during the assessment stage we will be able to give you a rough idea of timescales.

At what stage can I appoint a loss assessor?

You can appoint an assessor at any point of a property insurance claim. Whether that’s from the very beginning, part way through if you realise you may need some help or your claim has been rejected, or even at the very end if you do not think you have got the best offer from your insurer.

What type of claims can we help with?

Property claims only where you expect the damage/settlement to be £10,000 or more. Things like fire, flood, escape of water, burst pipes, storm, or you’re experiencing issues with underinsurance, non-disclosure, or you’ve had a claim repudiated.

Unfortunately, we cannot help with subsidence or liability claims at this time.

Is there a minimum claim amount we can help with?

Yes, the minimum claim is £10,000.
