Charity insurance tailored to your organisation
When you’re busy making a difference, insurance probably isn’t at the top of your to-do list. But you deserve proper protection for your funds, reputation, and people.
At Glowsure, we help bring that protection together for charities and not-for-profit organisations. We’ve been arranging business and property insurance in Hampshire since 2014. As an independent and FCA-regulated insurance company, we have access to multiple providers to find the right cover. You’ll have peace of mind that your new policy is built exactly to what you set out to do, fitting your volunteers as well as paid staff, your trustees who’d rather not lie awake worrying about personal liability, your physical assets, and just as importantly, your reputation.
And if you ever do have to claim, our own in-house claims team handles it. We’re only ever a call away, and you’ll have a dedicated handler who will fight your corner.
Why charities and non-profit organisations need specialist insurance cover
As a charity, you face many of the same risks as other businesses, but you also have different responsibilities. You’ll likely rely on volunteers, organise fundraising events, work with vulnerable people, manage donated money, or have trustees making decisions on behalf of the organisation.
Standard business insurance may not give you the right protection.
But we arrange charity insurance that helps you manage unique risks such as:
A volunteer or member of the public being injured at a fundraising event
Damage to your building, equipment, or other assets
Claims made against trustees following alleged wrongful acts or poor decisions
An employee becoming ill or injured through their work
A cyber attack or data breach involving sensitive information
Legal claims or unexpected costs following an insured event
With the right insurance in place, you can focus on the positive work you’re doing, knowing your organisation is protected in a worst-case scenario.
Can Glowsure review our existing charity insurance?
Absolutely, whether it’s an old insurance policy from a previous supplier or a new one we’ve created, it’s important to review your insurance policy often to make sure you are adequately covered in all possible events you need it for.
Once we’ve created a fitting charity insurance policy for your organisation, we’ll review it each year before it renews. If anything major changes in your charity during the year, let us know as soon as possible to ensure you’re protected at all times. We also ‘check in’ throughout the year, we don’t just leave it until renewal.
Charities in particular go through many changes, such as bringing on more volunteers, launching new events, gaining or losing funding, purchasing new equipment, and working with young or vulnerable people. It’s important that your insurance policy keeps up.
Build a bespoke policy for your charity and non-profit organisation with Glowsure
Every organisation is different, which is why we tailor policies around your activities.
We’ll take the time to understand what your charity does, who’s involved, and where you might need extra protection. Then we’ll help you bring the right cover together into one single policy.
Employers’ Liability Insurance
If you employ staff, you have a legal responsibility to protect them if they become ill or injured while they’re working for your charity. The same goes for volunteers. We arrange Employers’ Liability Insurance and check how your insurer treats volunteers, so you’re fully covered.
Such policies can protect against:
Compensation claims from employees
Legal defence costs
Workplace injuries and accidents
Illnesses linked to an employee’s role
Claims arising from working conditions
Public liability insurance
If your charity regularly welcomes visitors or holds fundraising events, accidents involving the public can happen. We’ll make sure you have adequate Public Liability Insurance that reflects what your charity does, including events that are not held at your usual location.
It can provide cover for:
Third-party injury claims
Accidental property damage
Legal defence costs
Compensation claims
Fundraising and community events
Activities involving members of the public
Professional indemnity insurance
Charities that provide support or advice to people who need it are doing great work, but sometimes the wrong advice or a simple mistake can happen. We help you work out whether your services create a professional liability risk and help you stay accountable and protected with the right insurance.
Depending on your activities, PI insurance can offer cover for:
Claims relating to poor professional advice
Errors or omissions
Allegations of negligence
Legal defence costs
Compensation and settlement costs
Trustee indemnity insurance for charity trustees
Being a trustee comes with real responsibility. Even when you’re careful, your decisions may be questioned. We arrange Trustee Indemnity Insurance to protect trustees from certain claims made personally against them while they do their work for the charity.
Depending on the policy, it can help with:
Alleged breaches of duty or trust
Claims relating to management decisions
Certain wrongful acts
Legal defence costs
Investigations involving trustees
Compensation or settlement costs
Protecting your property with contents insurance
Funding is precious for small charities, so when it’s spent on equipment and furniture the charity needs to keep running, it’s crucial to keep it protected at all times. Contents Insurance helps protect those physical assets if they’re damaged, destroyed, or stolen.
We’ll arrange cover for:
Computers and office equipment
Furniture and fixtures
Specialist equipment
Donated goods and stock
Accidental damage
Fire, flood, theft, and malicious damage
Cyber insurance for charities
Trust is essential when raising funds to support important causes. If you store information about donors, volunteers, or the people you support, a cyber incident can quickly break that trust. We arrange Cyber Insurance that gives you practical and financial support for cyber challenges, if and when you need it.
Depending on your policy, it can help with the following:
Data breaches
Cyber attacks and ransomware
Loss or theft of sensitive information
Cyber-related business interruption
Data recovery costs
Legal and investigation costs
Incident response and specialist support
Specialist insurance needs
Some charities provide services where the risks go well beyond standard liability or property insurance. If your organisation provides healthcare, treatment, therapy, counselling, or other specialist support, we can look for insurance designed around your day-to-day work.
Depending on what your charity does, you may need cover such as:
Medical Malpractice Insurance
Treatment Liability Insurance
Abuse or molestation cover
Legal expenses insurance
Cover for specialist equipment
Insurance for outreach or off-site activities
Cover for specialist events or projects

Frequently asked questions about charity insurance
It can, but you’ll need to make sure your policy includes the specific activities you’re planning. If you’re planning something outside your charity’s usual activities, call us first, and we’ll check your insurance cover and let you know whether you need to arrange anything extra.
Yes. If your charity employs staff, Employers’ Liability Insurance is a legal requirement in the UK. If the charity has only volunteers and no employees, Employers’ Liability insurance may not be a legal requirement, but the charity still owes volunteers a duty of care and could face claims if a volunteer is injured due to the charity’s negligence.
Yes. Although volunteers are different from paid employees, they still need to be properly protected when working for you. Tell us how many volunteers you have and what they do, and we’ll make sure your policy provides suitable protection for the risks involved with their work.
Absolutely, and that’s what we specialise in. We can combine several types of charity insurance into one custom policy. For example, your policy may need Employers’ Liability, Public Liability, Trustee Indemnity, Property Insurance, Contents Insurance, and Cyber Insurance.
Once we’ve had a conversation to understand the key aspects of your charity, such as its size, activities, people, property, and insurance requirements, we’ll build a tailored charity insurance policy to suit.

Glowsure was recommended to us by another small business in the area. We have several commercial insurances and decided to use Glowsure because of the first class, friendly and personal service they provide. They know the nature of their business inside and out, are informative whenever there's been any queries and are always helpful and super-efficient. Glowsure make the renewal process feel so easy and quotations are always provided way before the given deadline. In the unfortunate event of a claim, the fact Glowsure will deal with everything on our behalf thus freeing up valuable office admin time for our staff is an added bonus that no other brokers have offered. Thank you Glowsure team for an A++ service, we'd recommend you anytime!
Agincourt Contractors Ltd.
We began using Glowsure for our business and contractors insurances. Our business has grown rapidly and changed direction over the last year, leaving us with various insurance needs and a confusing list of policies we needed to procure. Wes has gone above and beyond in his efforts to assist us sorting everything out, countless visits to the office and always at the end of the phone to help answer queries. He has excellent knowledge of the insurance market and nothing has been too much trouble. Thanks Wes and team.
